From there, things differ quite a bit. While Instagram give you the option of deleting individual takes, Vine makes you start over from the beginning. Keep this in mind as you start creating your clips.
Video length and playback styles also make a big difference on each platform. Instagram allows for up to 15 second of video while Vine clips are only 6 seconds. Also, Instagram videos don’t repeat themselves while Vine’s GIF-like videos play on an infinite loop.
Vine videos are more fit for quick-hit information and fun, playful styles. Since they repeat themselves viewers are more likely to watch them multiple times. Use this to your advantage and create videos that are worth watching over-and-over.
Instagram videos are longer and more visually appealing thanks to the ability to apply filters and motion-smoothing. Use Instagram as a more visually creative and interesting medium.

Whether you’re creating a promotional clip, or a comedy clip, it requires forethought to set up your scene. Walk through your idea with the people you’re filming and think about whether your clips needs multiple shots or just a single take. It may also help to write a quick script or sketch out a shot list for your scene.
Do your best to find interesting backdrops and good lighting for your scenes. Nobody wants to watch a video that is too dark, overexposed or bland looking. If you’re interested in creating the best-looking footage possible, study up on basic photography concepts like the rule of thirds and composition.

Once you’re comfortable with the tools it’s important to remember that frequency will have a positive impact on the success of your video marketing stategy. Users who post more often on social networks see more engagement with fans and faster growth of their social networks. Vine and Instagram are no exception.

Be sure your agency does the level of analysis required to connect digital and social data back to your bottom line.
It’s important to know what you want out of a relationship with your digital agency, and the things you should ask agencies. Keep in mind — both in business and dating — there are no knights in shining armor. But if you’re smart with your selection, you’ll find a valuable partner who makes your life better.

I recently read a compelling article on LinkedIn by Tara Hunt, author of The Power of Social Networking. Her article focuses on the anatomy of creativity and explains why most companies/people desire, but reject creative ideas. In short, most brand marketing plans don’t allow for flexibility.
“According to a summary by Phys.org, the researchers found that:
- Creative ideas are by definition novel, and novelty can trigger feelings of uncertainty that make most people uncomfortable.
- People dismiss creative ideas in favor of ideas that are purely practical — tried and true.
- Objective evidence shoring up the validity of a creative proposal does not motivate people to accept it.
- Anti-creativity bias is so subtle that people are unaware of it, which can interfere with their ability to recognize a creative idea.”

Then, instead of asking yourself “How can we make it like Apple, Nike, and Coca Cola?”, ask yourself, “Is my company ready to accept creative ideas? How does our company deal something uncomfortable? And where can we leverage our creative team, or an agency?”
